Spider Pendant

Tessellated techniques favoured by the Dutch graphic artist MC Escher inspire this stunning D’Joya piece. Innovation comes from gold wires used to depict a spider’s web, which form a circular pendant bordered by 38 unheated Tajikistan ruby beads. The large 2.4-carat rose cut pear diamond at the pendant’s centre employs a portrait technique to help magnify the ruby trapped in the web. But the piece de resistance – an enameled spider – is only revealed when the pendant is reversed.
